Since March of 2020, I realized the farthest place I had traveled in 1.5 years was Oswego, IL. For me, this was weird and sad. Whether it’s for work or for fun, I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places, people and trying new food.

Fully vaccinated and with summer winding down, I decided I didn’t want another year to go by without travel! So, I packed my bags, hopped on a plane, and re-entered the world of travel!

I started off by heading to Charleston to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday. Shopped for a new weekend wardrobe, as I only had sweatsuit sets after a year of being cooped up in my house. I had a blast! We did a sunset cruise to kick off the weekend celebration. Went for a delicious brunch, then some pool time before attending a BIG birthday bash at the birthday girl’s favorite bar!

Next up was Florida with my high school besties for our friend Jackie’s wedding, then to Cabo with the fitness world of Chicago for my personal trainer’s wedding. These were two weddings I was really looking forward to! I was so excited for my friends to get married and happily celebrate their love finally after pandemic delays! Both weekends were amazing and filled with sunshine, laughter, and friends.

I ended my year with a family vacation to Madrid and Barcelona for Thanksgiving! We visited the Royal Palace in Madrid, then took a high-speed train to Barcelona, where we stayed for a week. We learned all about Gaudi, ate way too many tapas and did a lot of shopping. The best adventure was to Montserrat, where we took in breathtaking views and visited a spectacularly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat.

As a family that loves to make our decisions via taking a poll, we unanimously voted to always travel for Thanksgiving in the future! I’m so #thankful that 2021 could be a year of unforgettable travel once again!
